Summer Externship Program
The Behavioral Health Summer Externship Program is a component of NBHP’s Workforce, Recruitment, Education, and Development Initiative, which seeks to address the behavioral health workforce shortage by developing a pipeline to increase the number of culturally- and linguistically-competent mental health and substance use treatment providers serving in the greater Houston area. The purpose of the Summer Externship program is to provide meaningful, paid experiential and learning opportunities to high school and college students to encourage them to enter into the behavioral health field. The Summer 2023 Externship program will have two sessions: one in June, and another in July. 

NBHP is grateful for the generous support of the George Foundation, Houston Methodist Foundation, Humana Annual meeting sponsors, and membership organizations whose generosity has made this paid externship program possible.
