The Intersectionality of Economic Challenges &
Substance Abuse in Women

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Participants will learn basic framework of violence prevention, why and how people end up in domestic violence situations;
- Participants will learn about the intersection of sexual violence and substance abuse;
- Participants will learn examples of discrimination, economic barriers like getting a job due to stigma from drug use and/or criminal charges, as well as topics of mental wellness and stability importance;
- Participants will learn about services offered at Houston Area Women's Center (HAWC), including behavioral health counseling;
- Participants will observe outcomes of Pilot Project with HAWC & United Way of Greater Houston
