Summer Externship Program

The Behavioral Health Summer Externship Program is a component of NBHP’s Workforce, Recruitment, Education, and Development Initiative, which seeks to address the behavioral health workforce shortage by developing a pipeline to increase the number of culturally- and linguistically-competent mental health and substance use treatment providers serving in the greater Houston area. The purpose of the Summer Externship program is to provide meaningful, paid experiential and learning opportunities to high school and college students to encourage them to enter into the behavioral health field.
